Inkblock

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 22, 2026 · Last updated: September 14, 2026

The short version. Inkblock processes your documents entirely on your device. We never receive, upload, or store your documents, images, or the sensitive information they contain. Some data does leave your device: Google’s on-device ML Kit libraries send Google technical usage and performance information (never your documents or anything recognised in them), and, if you choose to sign in, your sign-in identity goes to Firebase Authentication. Purchases are handled by Google Play.

This policy explains what Inkblock (“we”, “us”, the “app”) does with information when you use it. Inkblock is a product operated by Chintan Dalal, an individual developer. If you have questions, contact us at inkblock.support@gmail.com.

1. Information we do NOT collect

Inkblock is an on-device document redactor. All of the following stays on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

Text recognition and detection run locally using on-device libraries. There is no cloud processing of your document content. Those libraries do send Google some technical information about their own operation, described in section 2 — never your content.

2. Technical data sent by Google’s ML Kit

Inkblock reads and analyses documents with Google ML Kit, a set of libraries that run on your device. Your documents, the text recognised in them and the results stay on your device; Google states that ML Kit does not send that data to its servers.

ML Kit does send Google technical usage and performance information whenever its features run — for example, when a document is scanned or imported and read. According to Google, this includes:

Why: Google states it uses this information for diagnostics and usage analytics, including to measure performance, fix problems, maintain and improve ML Kit, and detect misuse. We do not receive it. Google says it is encrypted in transit and not transferred to third parties. Google provides no setting to turn it off, so it is sent whenever these features are used. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure and ML Kit terms.

The first time some features are used, Google Play services downloads the models or components they need. Your documents are not sent as part of those downloads.

3. Information collected only if you sign in (optional)

Signing in is optional. Every feature works without an account. If you choose to sign in with Google or with a one-time email link, we use Firebase Authentication (a Google service) and receive some or all of the following, depending on the method:

When you sign in, Firebase Authentication also automatically receives your IP address, which Google uses to protect sign-up and sign-in against abuse, and technical information such as your device’s platform, operating system version and model, and the versions of the sign-in libraries. See Google’s Firebase Authentication data disclosure.

Why: to let you create, use and delete an optional Inkblock account. Signing in does not unlock any features, and your account is not used to deliver or restore Inkblock Pro — Pro is tied to your Google Play account and restored by Google Play. We do not use this information for marketing, profiling, or advertising. Legal basis (GDPR): your consent, given by choosing to sign in.

4. Purchases

Inkblock Pro is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes your payment; we never receive your card or payment details. We receive your purchase and subscription status from Google to unlock Pro features. Google’s handling of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

5. What we do not do

6. Third-party services

Data may be processed by Google in three ways: ML Kit (technical usage information whenever you use scanning and detection — section 2), Firebase Authentication (only if you sign in — section 3) and Google Play Billing (purchases — section 4). If you sign in with Google, your Google account is used as your identity provider. Email-link sign-in is handled entirely within Firebase Authentication and involves no additional third party. Each service is governed by its own privacy policy.

7. Data retention and deletion

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold only your optional sign-in identity, you can exercise most of these directly by deleting your account. Data held by Google under its own policies is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. For other requests, contact inkblock.support@gmail.com.

9. Children

Inkblock is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, in the app.
